What area do we cover?

Galway Rural Development (GRD) is one of 50 Local Development Companies (LDCs) in Ireland delivering a range of  EU and national programmes.

Who are we?

GRD was established in July 1994. It is a limited company and its Directors  represent  statutory agencies, social partners, business, farming, community and voluntary sectors. Our staff are based in Athenry, and out of other locations throughout the County.

What do we do?

GRD administers the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme  (SICAP), LEADER , the Rural Social Scheme (RSS), and TÚS Programme. GRD also acts as a sponsor of a Community Employment Scheme providing maintenance work for local communities and clerical and administrative support.

Where we are?

The main office of GRD is situated within Mellows Campus, the premises of Teagasc, on the Dublin Road two miles out of Athenry. We can be contacted by telephone on 091 844335, by fax: 091 845465 and by email at grd@grd.ie

Welcome to the Galway Rural Development website. Galway Rural Development, through the programmes we administer, will continue to work along with other agencies, groups and individuals around the county to improve the quality of life for all citizens in our area. We especially wish to work with those who are most in need of assistance, to provide real opportunities for people to gain significant improvements for themselves and their communities throughout rural Galway.

Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
